Our Biographies
Hello, my name is Khaled AlShabibi. I am 20 years old and I am from the United Arab Emirates. I am currently a medical student in foundation year at the Royal College Of Surgeons in Ireland. This is my second year in Ireland where I am at my foundation year studying through the 6 year medicine programme. I have also spent a year in the Institute of Technology in Tralee as apart of the International Medical Commencement Programme. After staying at Tralee, I became used to the life away from my home country which made it way easier to move to Dublin even though they are two different places. Despite the fact that studying in Tralee and Dublin are different, but after a short period of time, I just became used to it. While studying at RCSI, I am pleased that I have became apart of the Harbour 2 Harbour walk due to the fact I am now more able to learn about mental illnesses and how they can affect people in their every day life. I hope I can benefit from this experience and be familiar with how people suffering from mental illnesses can adapt, live, and interact with our society.~Khaled Alshabibi
Hello my name is Essa Albalooshi , A FY medical student in RCSI. I am 19 years old and was born in Dubai , United Arab Emirates. As I was growing I have been moving between a lot of cities including the ones which are close to my heart Kuwait City and Arizona State. While growing up I had the chance to meet people from cultures different than mine and interact with them which I would say it has built me as a person today . I have decided to join the Harbour 2 Harbour Walk elective because mental health is such a important thing as I have friends who are diagnosed with mental illnesses and by joining the elective I can show the world and them that I stand with people who have mental health problems and I am ready to support them in any way possible and I believe that the elective will deepen my understanding towards the challenges that people with mental health problems go through .~ Essa Albalooshi
Hello, my name is Abdullateef AlHebeshi. I am 19 years of age and I am a Kuwaiti student studying in The Royal College Of Surgeons In Ireland. Prior to studying in RCSI, I studied in Tralee, Co. Kerry for one year. The course I took in Tralee was detrimental for many friendships I had made at the time, and still hold on to today. The Tralee course has also helped me adapt to life abroad, away from the typical life I was used to prior to coming to Ireland. I am beyond excited to be participating in the harbor to harbor elective. Mental health has taken a huge toll on many friends of mine, and I am proud to be raising both funds and awareness in order to oppose the many adverse effects of negative mental health on individuals, and society as a whole. I am grateful for the knowledge I have earned so far on the effects of mental health on people and I hope to learn much more in the upcoming weeks. I expect to garner multiple new experiences, and to be enlightened by the perspective of other individuals who have suffered from mental health disorders and have been able to overcome their negative thoughts, and ultimately convert them into positive outcomes that serve as an outlet for them to succeed even further. ~ Abdullateef AlHebeshi
Hello, my name is Abdulaziz Shamsaldeen, I am 20 years old, and I am a Kuwaiti medical student at Royal collage of surgeon in Ireland ( RCSI ) in Dublin. This is my second year as I was in Tralee County Kerry for one year doing the Foundation year ( IMCP ). When I was there, I have met many people and I became friends with some of them, and my roommate here in Dublin is one of them. In comparison with Dublin, Tralee is Nice and quiet, as the people here are humble, while in Dublin it is a crowded city and with cultural diversity. I am honored to be chosen for this elective Harbour 2 Harbour , that seeks to raise awareness and funds for mental health in this society. As mental illnesses such as stress, depression and anxiety considered to be on top of list for the main causes of deaths annually. Also I interested in the knowledge that I am going to obtain in this elective. finally I will do my best in leading people to a better future. ~ Abdulaziz Shamsaldeen
Hello, my name is Faisal Aljumeeli and I’m 20 years old . I am born in Kuwait, specifically in the countryside, I spent nearly all my life in Kuwait and I graduated from primary, secondary and high school from kuwait. After that I took an English course in University College Cork and it was one of best years of my life due to that I learnt how to manage and to be responsible for everything in my life. I gained so much confidence to be able to control and make critical decisions that was essential in many aspects. Now I’m a RCSI student and I learnt a lot about the human body and how to be professional in my medical career hopefully in the near future. Also I’m really excited for the Harbour2Harbour walk and I’m looking forward to enjoy and learn from it.~ Faisal Aljumeeli
